Avoid rush hour
As always, when you're going out in traffic, it's a good idea to avoid the worst rush hour. Especially in the larger cities such as Aarhus, Copenhagen and Odense, it is worth trying to plan around the worst traffic.
Plan the bus journey within the driving-rest time rules
If your trip cannot be kept within the permitted driving-rest time rules, the bus companies must put two drivers on the trip, which increases the price of your trip. The rules may seem complicated and unmanageable. However, the most important things you need to know are the following three things:
1. The driver's uninterrupted driving time must not exceed 4.5 hours. That is You will need to include some breaks on your route if you have to drive longer than this.
2. The daily driving time must not exceed 10 hours with only 1 bus driver.
3. Within 24 hours, the driver must have a rest period of at least 11 consecutive hours, which means that your trip must not extend over 15 hours with only 1 bus driver.
All driving-rest time rules can be read here.
Avoid night driving
There may be an additional surcharge if you have to drive at night. If it is possible to avoid night driving, it will therefore be preferable to keeping the price down.
Make a stop at the border shops
If your trip goes over the Danish-German border, you would be wise to stop at the border shops. This is because the bus companies get a commission for this and this can help bring your price down.
